Danach stehen alle moeglichen Arbeiten an:
- auf Ronja (2) und Fabian (3 Monate) aufpassen
- Holz spalten
- Huehner fuettern
- putzen/ kochen
- grosse Rasenflaechen maehen
English:
Till now I'm living more than one week in Levaifre.
Lefaivre is a small village, which is located at the Ottawa River. Here I'm living together with a swiss family in an old monastery. Yes Swiss ... I thought I'm gonna improve my english but currently I'm learning more about the swiss language and the culture. The family, I live with, owns a small hobby farm and a cottage with a great view on the river.
At this place I'll do wwoofing for a few weeks. For those of you who have never heard of that, wwoofing means, that I'm helping the family on their farm and in return I get something to eat and a place to sleep .
Usually my day starts at 7 clock in the morning with homemade bread and fresh milk. After this I'll normally start with differnet kinds of work:
- taking care of Ronja ( 2) and Fabian (3 months)
- splitting wood
- feeding the chicken
- cleaning / cooking
- Mowing large grassfields
- and more ...
I 'm sort of a maid-of-all-work.
But my life here doesn't consist just of work, I'm learning a lot about the real life in Canada.
Such as the eco-friendly waste treatment. Yes, the Canadians made it pretty easy for them they just dig a hole, put in batteries, plastic and whatever else is purely toxic, earth back on it, done!
I've nearly started to cry when I saw that.
On my day off , I've grabbed a bike and have set myself the ferry across the Ottawa River to Montebello to cycle along the shore there.
The landscape in Ontario with its forests , swamps , rivers , mountains, or huge corn fields is quite varied and beautiful.
In my area you can also find Coyotes . But even if I haven't seen a Coyote till now, I've already experienced the pleasure of the " perfume " of a skunk (by the way it hasn't hit me ) .
I'm enjoying the peace of the nature at the moment even if I realize that I'm missing the noisy city and the crowds in there . Maybe I 'm not such a farm girl , I've always thought of.
I don't like to write so much and prefer to let the photos speak for me :
